In Excess: 3CR Earth Matters Podcast

At last month’s wonderful Historical Materialism Melbourne conference held at Trades Hall, it was fantastic to be asked by 3CR’s Earth Matters programme to record my conference paper to be aired as part of their show. The recording was aired last week, and is now available to listen to as a podcast here:

In excess – debunking the myths of floods of migrants and scarcity of resources in Australia’s border regime

What does it mean when we talk of floods of migrants? Is it accurate or even useful? Or does it distract from the real floods, the disasters brought on by climate change? Lauren Piko, presents her paper “Hydraulics and flood: rhetorics and realities of fluidity in Australian cities” at the 2019 Historical Materialism Conference, held at Trades Hall in Melbourne.
